In May, the Close Up I.Sat series, presented by critic and writer Alan Pauls, features two of the best independent films of recent times. Made in Argentina and directed by Matías Piñeiro, Viola – winner of a FIPRESCI award for best film at the Argentine competition held in 2013 – follows a group of girls as they rehearse Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night. And in Exit Elena, Nathan Silver – movie’s writer, director and star – introduces us into the world of inexperienced young nurse Elena, who is hired as a live-in assistant for an elderly woman living with her son, her daughter-in-law, a cat, and later a grandson who moves back home.
